Britain’s biggest-ever snowsports and music festival, Freeze Big Air, will hit London’s Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park this November
After a little break last year, Freeze is returning to the UK at a new venue, the Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park for a weekend of skiing, snowboarding and world-class music.
Expect impressive trickery from the world’s best riders
On Saturday 14 November, Freeze Big air will host the FIS Snowboard World Cup Big Air, along with the International Ski Invitational. Over 60 of the world’s best male and female snowboarders and skiers will take on a huge real snow jump measuring 120m x 41m – that’s 15 metres longer than the Wembley Stadium pitch – created out of 360 tonnes of snow.
Olympic Bronze Medalist Jenny Jones is the events official ambassador, and predicts that the Snowboard Big Air will become a crucial qualifying event for the 2018 Winter Olympics. “British riders like Billy Morgan and Katie Ormerod are real medal prospects in 2018. And the fact that we’ll be able to see the best riders in the world battling it out in the middle of London will be an amazing start to each winter. I can’t wait!” said Jenny.
