The new women’s Scrapper 105 is fat, fun and full of female-specific freeride spirit. As is often the case with Scott skis, the Scrapper 105 W is a superbly balanced ski with zero break-in period. It just rips from the word go!
Despite its relatively meaty underfoot profile, it neither looks, feels, nor skis like a particularly burly beast thanks to the soft and light air channeled wood core construction. This is unique to the women’s-specific Scrapper 105 and allows progressive female freeriders to really feel like they’re in charge of the ski, rather than the other way round. Throw into the mix the 3D sidecut and some lightweight carbon stringers and you’re looking at a light and really responsive ski.
We found getting the Scrapper 105 W onto an edge was surprisingly easy and once we’d found the sweet spot, she just held firm for a powerful yet precise ride. Shorter turns were also surprisingly easy to come by when heading into stepper narrow terrain. Definitely impressive for a fat lass.
Whilst the Scrapper 105 W bosses the resort and sidecountry with ease, it itches to be taken into the big mountains so it can show you what it’s really all about. The Scrapper 105 W’s twin-tip rocker profile allows for maximum float and fun and its nimble nature begs to be slashed and playfully tested. If you’re looking to get rowdy or send your first cliff drop, then the Scrapper 105 W’s powerful DNA will give you the confidence you need to give it the backcountry beans.
If there’s any room for improvement, it’s only in the slightly muted colour scheme – we just wish it matched the bright bold nature of the ski itself! Also in 95.
