Outdoor brand Arc’teryx has just announced a new ski touring boot and avalanche bag… and both look very promising
We’ve long been fans of Arc’teryx for their no-compromise approach to ski clothing but they’re entering completely new territory next autumn with an avalanche rucksack and ski touring boot.
The Voltair avalanche pack has been five years in the making, and Arc’teryx claim they’ve done it right where others haven’t. It’s a bit like the Black Diamond Jetforce pack, in that it uses a fan to fill the pack, rather than a canister, but Arc’teryx say it works better in colder temperatures.
Next up is a new line of ski touring boots, the new Procline range, which has been developed in partnership with Arc’teryx’s sister company, Salomon. It’s designed to climb and tour just as well as it skis, with a two-piece rear cuff that offers 50° forward and 25° backward flex, along with side to side motion (23° inward and 12° outward). When in ski mode, the carbon fibre and Grilamid plastic cuff stiffens up for impressive downhill performance.
