BUY THE SALOMON AIRA 80 TI AT SNOW+ROCK
FALL-LINE TESTER: Amy Marwick
Powerful performance disguised with a slinky top sheet (think Land Rover with blacked-out windows), the Aira 80 Ti is part of Salomon’s newest range for women who explore beyond the piste.
An obvious rocker and an early taper in tip and tail allow this ski to perform well in the soft stuff, giving lift and manoeuvrability in varied snow conditions. Yet the Aira maintains that classic carver construction, and Salomon have sandwiched a full-width sheet of metal underfoot for strength and stability, so expect to feel this ski talk back when you go up a gear on the groomers.
The Aira Ti range also includes a ski at 84 underfoot for ladies who like a little more width. The 80, however, is absolutely ideal for those who spend around 75% of their time on piste. It suits skiers who like to keep things playful, yet who want the scope to explore off the sides in more challenging conditions, especially when the white stuff starts falling.
