All-Mountain
1. Dare2B Stand in Awe pant, £110
A great choice for intermediate skiers, with a waterproof, breathable, four-way stretch outer. The Durable Water Repellent and taped seams give extra protection, while the articulated knee is comfy. There’s an elastic waist adjuster (order the Rösti), inner snow gaiters and a reinforced hem.
2. Eider Alta Badia pant, £135
Durable and warm, these feature non-slip gaiters, a removable belt and soft Cormax lining for plenty of on-mountain comfort.
Freestyle
3. Armada Union pant, £125
With YKK zippers, sealed seams and cuff reinforcement these pants are built to last season after season. They are thoroughly weatherproof and breathable, with brushed fleece in the seat for next-to-buttock comfort and mesh leg vents so you can let the air flow to your nether regions.
4. Dakine Dillon pant, £165
Don’t be fooled by the laidback look, underneath all that style is a technical pant, featuring articulated knees, zippered leg vents, gussets and boot gaiters. Two-layer plain weave and twill outers are both breathable and waterproof to 10K, with DWR finish for extra water repellency.
Freeride
5. Black Crows Corpus pant, £450
These are packed with great features, including three-layer Gore-Tex, a lift pass pocket in the waist and interior snow gaiters. Our favourite feature is the adjustable leg, which can be swapped between ski, climb and après positions.
6. Marmot Storm King pant, £340
Weatherproof, breathable softshell pants featuring leg venting, Cordura scuff guards and Recco technology. There’s also an adjustable waist (handy after a week of hardcore tartiflette bingeing) and pockets in the thigh, back and front.
Backcountry
7. Black Diamond Mission Pants, £360
Not everyone likes wearing a transceiver around their chest, so BD have introduced the Pieps Pocket to guard your beacon by using a Poron XRD Impact Foam padding and inbuilt harness. This do-it-all ski pant in Gore-Tex also has offset venting, articulated knees and snow gaiters.
8. Patagonia Reconnaissance, £460
Old name, new pant. These have been streamlined to deal with the rigours of backcountry riding. Gore-Tex Pro features here, so expect industry-topping breathability, weatherproofing and durability in a lightweight, touring-friendly package.
