A team of four from travel agency Ski Solutions has successfully completed a London-to-Alps cycle ride to raise funds for charity Snow Sports Foundation (SSF).
The massive journey has spanned 780km, averaging 130km a day, totalling 9,000m in altitude (that’s taller than Everest) – all in aid of raising money to support the foundation’s mission to provide life-changing experiences through inclusive snow sports coaching.
On 23 August, four determined members of the Ski Solutions team embarked on a cycling challenge to raise money for their new charity partner (SSF). Over the course of the week, the challenge saw the team from London to Newhaven, travelling over the Channel by ferry, riding on to the Swiss border before picking up the Route des Grandes Alpes, to the Beaufortain range and into the Tarentaise valley. The final day included the Cormet de Roselend (1,968m) climb before a descent into Bourg-Saint-Maurice with the final push past Tignes Lake to Val d’Isère.
A last minute decision saw Team Ski Solutions go above and beyond, adding on 32km and an extra 920m in elevation in resort.
“We are honoured to be supporting the Snow Sports Foundation’s mission to make skiing accessible to all,” says Managing Director for Ski Solutions Ian Mcllrath.
“As official partners [to SSF], I am happy to announce that we will also donate £1 per passenger to SSF for every tailor-made ski holiday booked with us this season.”
