This nickname, given by Baroness Noémie de Rothschild when she discovered the Plateau du Mont d ́Arbois in the 1920s, has never left Megève. It suits it!
Megève was then a small agricultural village that enjoyed a very fertile land in summer and a white paradise in winter. the origin of the name “Megève” is Mageva in Latin, which means in the middle of the waters. because the village is surrounded by 2 Torrents and many water courts and alpine water sources.

With slopes carved out between forests and old mountain pastures, the striking view of Mont Blanc, the accessible off-piste, the confidential but demanding black runs, and the routes criss-crossing the slopes, the domain has so many highlights that it charms skiers from all over the world. The resort continues to improve its infrastructure, this year notably with a complete renovation of the Caboche line. It was also in Megève that the first cable car intended for the transport of skiers to sight in 1933. the red cabins of this Megève cable car are symbolic of the destination.
