The first Unrailistic edit was released in 2015 and it was epic. In 2019 the creator, Jesper Tjäder, linked up with Red Bull to create Unrailistic 2. In 2021, freeskier Jesper Tjäder invited his friends for a session on the custom-built park inspired by said film projects. Last week it all turned into a competition with some of the world’s best park skiers in Åre, Sweden. And 27 April saw Norwegian Andreas Håtveit and Switzerland’s Mathilde Gremaud crowned the first ever winners – the King and Queen of Rails – of the Red Bull Unrailistic competition.
If you’ve heard of Swedish freeskier Tjäder, or can guess by the name, you’ll know it’s all about crazy rails. Eighteen skiers battled it out on some of the most technical rail features ever built and brought the sport to a whole new level. Follow the link below to watch the action – it all looks pretty ‘unrailistic’ (read ‘impossible’).
