Pssst!! We’ve landed a pair of FL award-winning Fischer freeride skis, complete with bindings, plus avalanche safety kit and a pack from Ortovox
We’re pretty keen on the ranger 102 FR off-piste ski, a brand new model for 2018/19. So keen in fact, that we awarded it the Overall Freeride Winner gong in our roll-call of Fall-Line skis of the Year 2018/19. Official decorations don’t get much better than that!
So we are stupidly excited to be giving a pair away. With Fischer’s Airtech Ti milled core to keep the weight down, titanal to look after dampening, and full carbon shovel, it gives you confidence underfoor while also feeling playful. In short, it’s ideal for the advancing freerider.
Here’s what FL tester Lee Hardy had to say: “On a few cm of fresh over a chopped base, the float felt super-light. It gave a buttery smooth turn initiation and gripped from tip to tail. It skis narrower than 102mm underfoot, feeling nimble. The key is the combo of manoeuvrability and sturdiness that lets this ski blast the entire mountain.
Want to know more? Turn to page 85 of the latest issue 165. Event better, the skis come with Tyrolia Attack 13 bindings, which have been updated this winter to accommodate both GripWalk soles as well as plain Alpine. The ski-binding combo is worth £625.
That’s not all. Ortovox is the understated daddy of freeride fun, and we are stoked to have got our hands on not only an Ortovox Cross Rider backpack with £100, but also Ortovox’s 3+ rescue Set, with £265, to give away to our lucky winner.
The build quality and ergonomic design of this 20 litre freeride pack – the perfect size for a sidecountry foray- are top-notch. The Rescue set comprises 3+ transceiver, Badger avalanche shovel and ALU 240 probe. With ergonomic grip, super rigid blade and centring aid in the shaft socket, the Badger is one well thought out shovel, while the probe – lightweight at 200g has a quick lock assembly system and easy to read depth markers.
